Guango Lodge, conscious that community interaction is an important component to the sustainability of a conservation project, employs local people from nearby towns who are involved in the lodge’s operation as well as in naturalist and bird guiding. Guango Lodge joined Cabañas San Isidro in multi-faceted training courses that involved not only the employees of the lodge, but also anyone from the surrounding communities who wished to participate. We have also contributed to the organization of specialized courses in guiding that have produced some of Ecuador’s best known local guides who have emerged from these initiatives, which in recent years have been developed by San Isidro and Guango Lodge. |
We have supported local and foreign university students to help them take advantage of learning right in the field. More than a few students have knocked our door asking to let them use our installations to run their graduation studies, which we are happy to sponsor.
